Dr. Queler’s philosophy is that given the the current healthcare crisis, epidemic of non-communicable chronic disease, and unsustainable impact of the human race on planet Earth, it is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society and environment.
Subsequently, Dr. Queler feels it is his mandate to practice stewardship of not only his body, but also from the workld we borrow from future generations. For obtaining optimal health will not only dramatically affect one’s life, but also the life of those we love and the world. Subsequently, he apsires to empower patients, families and the community at large to apply evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches in order to simulatneously address our individual and collective: health, humaniatrian, and environmental impact.

Laurie Marbas, MD, MBA is a double board certified family medicine and lifestyle medicine physician, who has been utilizing food as medicine since 2012. She is Co-founder of Plant Based TeleHealth, (http://plantbasedtelehealth.com) the first plant based lifestyle medicine practice covering the United States. Previously, she created a new medical model combining the power of nutrient-dense foods and intensive clinical psychological therapy to treat not only food addiction but also chronic disease. As the Managing Editor for the Plantrician Project’s International Journal of Disease Reversal and Prevention, she works closely with the journal’s Editor in Chief, Dr. Kim Williams. The journal is focused on bringing plant-based research to the forefront of modern medicine and to the general public. She is also co-founder of Healthy Human Revolution, whose mission is to provide resources that will empower individuals with the knowledge, tools, and mindset to successfully adopt and sustain a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet.
In Colorado, when Laurie convinced a large hospital to create a lifestyle medicine program centered around a WFPB diet, the program showed resounding success. At another hospital, she conducted a one-month study of 26 employees on a WFPB diet. All employees were fed from the hospital’s kitchen, and each individual experienced improved health. She has spoken at the Golden VegFest in Colorado, the International Plant-based Nutrition Healthcare Conference, and other venues teaching about the value of the WFPB diet.
Laurie received her dual degrees (MD and MBA) from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and TTU School of Business. She was awarded the Texas Tech University School of Medicine Gold Headed Cane Award, a symbol for excellence in the art of medicine and the care of patients. She wrote seven books while in medical school, six of which were in a series called “Visual Mnemonics.” These books used cartoons to help people memorize vast amounts of information—a system that helped her personally when she was a mom attending medical school. As a United States Air Force veteran, she served in the Middle East and South America. She is also a wife, mom of three grown children, host of the Healthy Human Revolution podcast, author, speaker, and avid runner.

I have over 35 years of helping patients improve their health through better eating and healthier lifestyles and feel so inspired by the disease reversals I see in my patients. It feels imperative at this time that we eat the foods that both heal our bodies as well as protect the planet. I use my love of gardening and cooking to help inform my work and believe that food is the best medicine. I have personally been following a plant strong diet for over 40 years and would be delighted to help more people on this journey.
I’m a professional, licensed Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, and Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition. Over 24 years of experience in clinical nutrition gives me a depth of knowledge to share with you. Particularly if you are concerned with weight, diabetes, digestive/bowel and kidney diseases. You might only have some concerns about lab test results, or nutrition supplements. Maybe you are confused by all the ‘chatter’ out there. My approach is to always start with the ‘science’. My work experiences reflect my strong knowledge base. From hospital settings providing nutrition recommendations in acute, chronic, and critical care situations; to outpatient clinics providing diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, and weight management counseling. After moving to California in 1980, I developed an interest in competitive cycling and eating. The eating morphed into a career in restaurant and food production. Eventually it led me to return to college to study nutrition and dietetics. It is important to understand what happens after we eat foods. And, why cultures consume certain foods. Plant-based nutrition has always been a great interest. As my knowledge in nutrition has grown, my beliefs about the importance of a plant-based diet has been, and continues to be, reaffirmed. At this time of my career, I am priveledged to be able to help my patients understand their nutrition. And, how a more plant-based diet might help them and the planet. As a chef, it is great to be able to help them execute a delicious and satisfying plant-based meal.
Clinical psychologist, with specialist interest in plant based nutrition
My lifelong curiosity around whole-person health, integrative healing, and creative, systems-based problem solving led me to discover plant based nutrition around 2008. Ever since then, I’ve been studying vegan/plant based diets (yes, they’re different, but I resonate with both), attending nutrition conferences, teaching nutrition/cooking courses, and sharing resources with friends and healthcare colleagues alike. Twice in my life, I nearly enrolled in naturopathic physician training; however, I ultimately decided to apply 12 years of RN experience to advanced nursing practice as a primary care FNP.
Today, my practice is based in a small neighborhood clinic, where I provide general primary care, Lifestyle Medicine, and gender affirming care. My practice is rooted in the awareness that humans have incredible capacity for recovery. I look forward to meeting you on your health journey!
