SUZANNAH BOZZONE, MD For years, I was prescribing medicine I wouldn’t take myself and frustrated by the seemingly incurable state of our most prevalent, deadly and costly chronic diseases. Finally, I found Lifestyle Medicine, which is not only strongly evidence-based, but resonates with my desire to treat myself, my family and my patients more in accordance with nature’s guidance and, most importantly, addressing diseases from their root causes, rather than covering up symptoms. Best of all, this method empowers patients, rather than dictating dependence on our pharmaceutically-driven medical system. Dr. Bozzone moved to the Chattanooga area from Sonoma, CA, where she worked for six years in private practice and community health. She previously served as the Medical Director of Wellness at Sonoma Valley Hospital. Dr. Bozzone is happily married with three young children and loves to swim, practice yoga and sing in any spare moment she can find.

I meet you where you are and together we build personalized, integrative plans that focus on building foundations of optimal health. My lifelong interest in promoting and encourgaing healthy lifestyles began as a young gymnast years ago. I competed at the elite level, was a member of the U.S. National Team, and earned a full scholarship to the Stanford University Women’s Gymnastics Team. After four years as a Division I NCAA student-athlete, I began training and racing triathlons while earning my master’s degree. After graduating I helped build sports programs for kids in Japan, organized triathlons and led bike tours in the Southwest, and managed the sports program for Special Olympics Nevada. I then spent three years inspiring audience members performing as a professional acrobat in Cirque du Soleil’s KÀ at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, while also continueing to participate in full-distance triathlons.Â
I was then introduced to naturopathic medicine during a 4,500-mile, self-supported bicycle trip with my husband where we witnessed the unequivocal interconnectedness of the environment and health. I was motivated to learn more and earned my naturopathic doctorate degree from Bastyr University while growing our family. I now have my own, small private practice in Maple Valley, WA where I encourage, coach, and help patients live their best life in person and via telemedicine. As a mom of three, I understand the juggle of home, work, school, play, self-care, and all the roles that come with being a mother. My passion is helping you navigate your own juggle so that you can optimize both your own and your family’s health. I cannot wait to hear your story!

She certified in Lifestyle Medicine in 2021, and is committed to using it in practice. She grew up in Dunwoody, Georgia, and obtained her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Georgia State University. She attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM-GA), and completed her residency in family medicine in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She has a passion for nutrition and physical activity as a way to prevent and treat chronic medical conditions.  Ella habla español! As an osteopathic physician I am committed to the principle that structure and the fuel that we put in our body affects function. Just as we were created to flourish with God’s new creation and with saturation in his word. We also physically thrive when we follow his principles of eating a bright rainbow of fruits and vegetables.
I considered it a great privilege to work with Stone Mountain, and with the team here at Holston family clinic. To live and work and worship with my wife and family in Damascus Virginia is a joy. I am blessed to have an opportunity to live on the Appalachian Trail, to enjoy the mountains of Southwest Virginia, and to run on the creeper trail with my dog Molly.
I am a board-certified family physician practicing in Valdez Alaska. I wasn’t happy with the status quo of medicine and went back to further my education by getting a masters degree in Integrative Medicine from George Washington University and becoming board certified by the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. I focus on an integrative and holistic approach to wellness with nutrition education being at the very center of my treatments. My focus is to prevent and reverse metabolic diseases with diet and lifestyle changes and I challenge my patients to focus on these things.Â
Nutrition education, bioidentical hormone therapy, weight-loss counseling, and preventive health measures. I am always on the lookout for bringing innovative procedures to my office to help improve/prevent disease at the root cause, this is why I now offer SWIFT wart therapy, Tixel skin rejuvenation, and Prism Light Pod (red light therapy).

I am also a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner as well as a registered dietician (RD) and a physician acupuncturist. I did my undergraduate studies at Simmons College, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition science. After graduating, I completed a dietetic internship and worked as a registered dietician with many community-based nutrition programs. I then completed two Maternal and Child Health Fellowships one in Adolescent Nutrition and the other in Nutrition in Children with Developmental Disabilities.  Â
Â
I went on to receive my medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed my family medicine residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network. During this time, I began studying other forms of healing, such as acupuncture, medical group education, homeopathy, herbal medicine and functional medicine. My research focus during residency was integrating these modalities into a primary care setting for which I was given the Family Medicine Resident Award for Scholarship. After completing my residency, I worked as an integrative family doctor in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for many years, where I provided primary care and nutrition services for families as well as educational programs for the community. I established my own practice, Red Hill Medical+Wellness, in 2015.Â

In contrast, to most medical school educations, I had the privilege of spending hundreds of hours in nutrition during my doctorate at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and it was there that I first became exposed to the likes of Ornish, Esselstyn, Campbell, Goldhamer and others, to name a few. The underlying tenants that I practice, embrace a philosophy of health and wellness rooted in prevention. To this end, nutrition is central to all health and a Whole Food Plant Based orientation is quite simply, the best way to accomplish this task.Â
Â
I remember an instance several years ago when my son, Silas, came home from school, recounting a story of one of his 6-year old classmates, who brought not one, but two cans of Mountain Dew in his packed lunch. As I sighed and braced myself for the inevitable, why-can’t-I-have-soda-in-my-lunch question, I pondered how best to answer his concerns. But, he never asked that question. Instead he stated with some level of resignation in his voice, “Well, mom, I guess that’s what we should expect from some kids, after all, his mom isn’t a Naturopathic doctor.”
Â
In my mind, that moment crystallizes a couple of principles that seem to characterize the WFPB lifestyle and my own core values. (1) Practice what you preach and be the change you wish to see in the world. (2) Change is often caught rather than taught, often when we least expect it, even though it can seem difficult or even insurmountable. Â

He recommends whole foods plant-based (WFPB) nutrition to all his patients, but recognizes that changing behaviors like eating and exercising is not easy, and will provide patients with resources to make changes at their own pace. Dr. Sheline switched to a WFPB diet in 2015, and both he and his patients have been very successful in using healthy nutrition to treat various problems including high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and pre-diabetes, overweight and obesity, reflux, kidney stones, coronary artery disease, and depression and anxiety. Our bodies can heal themselves, usually without the need for medication!
