I work for an integrative pain program that focuses on a variety of holistic methods to help better manage pain, removing the focus away from medicine as the main source of management. Nutrition plays a huge part in pain management; I teach plant-based nutrition and the health benefits of incorporating more herbs and spices into one’s dietary habits. My educational background includes a B.A. in Health Promotion from Purdue University; a M.Ed. in Health Promotion and Wellness from Springfield College in Massachusetts, and am currently working towards a M.S. in Complementary and Alternative Medicine from the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Portland, Oregon. I am also a certified health coach through the American Council on Exercise. I am excited with the whole notion of “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food” from Hippocrates. For it’s so true! What we eat can cause illness or create a healthier body. Plant-based eating is proving more and more to be a very effective form of nutritional therapy!
