Michel Herskovitz, OMD is a Nevada licensed Oriental Medical Doctor and nationally board certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She earned her degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Oriental Medicine) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. Additionally, Michel is a Clinical Massage Therapist with a special focus in Sports Medicine, Tui Na, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Applications, Neuromuscular Therapy/Re-Education, Positional Release and Injury Rehabilitation as well as being certified by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) for the treatment of alcohol/substance abuse and addictions. She had the privilege of interning at the Lincoln Medical Center Bronx, NY with Michael Smith, MD in 1993.
Dr. Herskovitz is the owner of Performance Acupuncture and Lifestyle Medicine and has been in private practice since 1989. She specializes in sports medicine and the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. As a certified personal fitness trainer prior to her advanced studies in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Therapeutic Massage, Michel possesses a special understanding of the complex process of injury rehabilitation. Dr. Herskovitz takes private clients into her home for fasting and raw food detox programs on a case by case basis.
Michel is currently a part time instructor at the European Massage Therapy School teaching Anatomy/Physiology, Kinesiology and Pathology as well as teaching continuing education, advanced technique classes in injury rehabilitation.
Michel began racing in 1984 and has competed in numerous endurance events ranging from long distance open water distance swims (4.4 mile race across the Chesapeake Bay), running 5K’s to marathons, long distance cycling and competing in over 100 triathlons from sprint distances to half ironman races. As an avid athlete, she also endured many common overuse injuries and impact trauma injuries from car/bicycle encounters which developed her unique understanding of the hurting athlete’s objective to get back to their sport.
Michel has been a persistent student of Oriental and Western medicine, nutrition, fitness, alternative medicine therapies and the works of Herbert Shelton’s Natural Hygiene methods of pristine health for over 30 years.
Dr. Michel Herskovitz is also an ordained chaplain and spends time giving back to the community working with male youth offenders charged as adults at Clark County Detention Center and youth incarcerated at Caliente Youth Detention Center in Caliente, NV as well as High School Ministry. She is a versatile musician serving as a vocalist/pianist/guitarist on several worship teams in the Las Vegas area including Celebrate Recovery, a Christ centered 12 step program for those struggling with addictions, hurts, habits and hang-ups.
In her spare time, Michel enjoys writing/recording her original music with 8 CD’s to date, tending to her flower garden and fruit trees, swimming, biking, hiking, running, kayaking and relaxing with the Bible.
